# Series

> A folder is a series — its index introduces it, its cards build themselves.

<Skill name="Module progress" level={50}>
  Lesson 1 of 2.
</Skill>

## One folder, one series

This course is itself built this way:

<Tree>
  <TreeItem label="examples" open>
    <TreeItem label="index.mdx — the grid of modules" />
    <TreeItem label="first-steps" open>
      <TreeItem label="index.mdx — its cover, and the grid of its lessons" />
      <TreeItem label="01-install.mdx" />
      <TreeItem label="02-first-page.mdx" />
    </TreeItem>
    <TreeItem label="writing — this module" />
  </TreeItem>
</Tree>

The index page of a folder writes a single line, and the grid follows every
page added, renamed or removed:

```mdx
<Cards />
```

## What a card shows

Everything comes from the pages. The cover of **First steps** is the `preview`
of its index; the number of lessons is counted; the update date is its
`modified`. Here are the modules of this course, as the examples page
shows them:

<Cards from="examples" of="series" />

## Check yourself

<details>
<summary>What happens when a lesson is renamed?</summary>

Its card follows on the next build. No list to correct anywhere.
